Gazing shop-windows...

Streets are like veins in the city and everything flows through them. There are big streets with a lot of traffic and little streets, quiet and empty. And then there are streets that have shops, different, lively, colorful and intriguing shops. Korkeavuorenkatu in Helsinki is such a street.

Walking these streets and gazing windows - not even window-shopping, just exploring 'the exhibition' while strolling along the street and enjoying the styles and variety....

Antique shop displays a nice, simple desk with drawers, and another still smaller one... and a lot of small glass and porcelain objects.

In the other window we have table and chairs - and three lovely crystal chandeliers. You don't have to imagine them in your drawingroom - just admire them here: no dusting, no hanging, no care...

Down the street there is 'by Marja', design clothes and dressmaking. Chic turquoise handbag, a bit lighter scarf and lovely light shoes, not forgetting the necklace....

Shoes, pearls, handbags... just watching and enjoying...

Rather rare are milliner's shops today even in towns, but here  you can find one. Summer hats now - bright colors, straw and wide brims - just amazing the orange and pink!

the bright northern summer night

The city has  hidden in twilight and a patch of clouds. The Helsinki Cathedral is rising above other buildings and acts as a landmark to those entering from the sea.

Our vessel was s/s Norkulla, a small steamship making pleasure cruises to order.

The empire style buildings in faint pastel colors are surrounding the market square. Same kind of colors can be seen in the clouds above the city.

This picture of a sailing ship is interesting because there is nothing to give the viewer a clue of the time... It might be 1910 or 2010 or   ...
